Biographical Sketch 
Dr. Harada received her medical degree from the University of Tokyo Faculty of Medicine and completed her residency training for Internal Medicine, worked as an internist in Endocrinology and Metabolism in Tokyo, Japan. She moved to USA and conducted research on insulin signal transduction and gene regulation at University of Pennsylvania, a part of which as a research faculty. She completed her residency at Drexel University College of Medicine followed by surgical pathology and molecular genetic pathology fellowship at University of Pennsylvania and Johns Hopkins University, respectively. She joined the faculty at UAB in August, 2011. Dr. Harada is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology as well as Molecular Genetic Pathology.

Title
Molecular Profiling of Breast ductal carcinoma in situ
Description
My research interest is on molecular diagnostic test development and/or discovery/establishment of new molecular marker in oncology. One approach is detection of chromosomal translocations at DNA level using ligation based assay LOLA (looped ligation assay), which can be adopted for wide variety of diagnostic application. Another approach is to utilize SNP array or expression array analysis on cancer DNA or RNA isolated from paraffin embedded tissue. These new molecular approaches would help oncology diagnosis as well as further sub-classification that could guide therapeutic choices as referred as personalized medicine.
